White gets dirty so easily, and that asteroid is going to kick up a lot of dirt.
Yeah, that’s what I was going to say. Things are going to get REALLY dusty.
It could be that she recognises that there is a forthcoming “brown trouser moment” and she fears the evidence of her fear will be plain to see. No need to worry – everyone else will be in the same sticky situation.
Or the Arlo interpretation. A common regret among innocents facing unexpected an early death. The symbolism of wearing white, as in “How dare she wear white?”

Strictly speaking, an extinction-level asteroid impact vaporized her and everyone else close enough to see it, within seconds of seeing it approach. (Think Hiroshima and the shadows of people on the walls being all that was left of them, except the energy in the asteroid impact is several orders of magnitude higher. The energy of impact is one-half the mass times the velocity squared, and asteroids are both big AND moving VERY fast.)
