It’s a pretty good likeness of Burl Ives. I find it a little odd to have a real-looking character in a strip where the other characters are cartoony.

Apropos of nothing, I recently found out that the “Happy Happy Joy Joy” song from Ren and Stimpy is full of references to Burl Ives movies and songs. I thought it was just the usual R&S weirdness, but all of the oddball non-sequiturs (“I’ll teach your granmother to suck eggs!” “The little critters of nature, they don’t know that they’re ugly”) are all accounted for.

    ignatzz, I agree.

Oddly when I think of Burl Ives I think of two songs – “Tam Pierce” and “Angus McTavish Dundee” – records I had (have) when I was little.

“Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” is an animated classic, still popular. Some might say it’s yuge, very very yuge.
