A delivery robot runs into a carelessly-placed rental scooter which falls over, confusing an autonomous car and causing an accident. “The World of Tomorrow,” the title tells us. The author is saying that these technological advances are not improving our lives.
I have to replace my dishwasher and I’m having trouble finding a model I like that can rinse dishes without being connected to the internet…. So I approve of this comic.
i approve of both andrew and darren’s explanations :)
Oh, so that’s a poorly drawn delivery robot. I took it to be a poorly drawn, unmanned food cart. I’ve no idea how that would attract a passing autonomous car.
Darren, I had a similar experience with a clothes-washing machine.
Boise Ed – The delivery robot looks spot-on to me. The food delivery robots I’ve seen look almost exactly like that.
I don’t think the delivery robot nor the collision with the scooter attracted the autonomous car. I think this is more a statement about how autonomous vehicles will push through whatever obstacles are in the way and that can have far more serious consequences when we start talking about something as large as a car.
I agree with TedD!
My apologies for a weird post I just made on a date about a week ago.
Friday my laptop computer (which I use in the evening in the kitchen to come online for fun, as opposed to desktop computer used in office for work) decided it was no longer working.
Husband tried a variety of things to fix it. I never like updating my computers and apparently this one decided it would no longer work with Win 10 – just black screen! He spent a lot of time getting Win 11 and getting it set up in the computer. Once that was done – I found that when I was online I could not access sites correctly – in terms of my comics I read online (both here and on gocomics.com) it meant that I could read the comics, but I could not reply.
Finally tonight (technically that was last night as it is now early am) he got it all working again. I hit two letters as a post from about a week ago – and it posted! So, I apologize for that and I am back, hopefully permanently!
(Yes, I back up my computer – but had not done in awhile as he ALWAYS seems to have waste my time, umm, for u s to do, these days and the backups are a bit too far back to bother to try to use them. So I am stuck with Win 11 and missing most of my software. )
