Sunday Funnies – LOLs – August 17, 2025

Boise Ed sends this in: “Absurd … Perhaps the category should be “Heaping scorn.” I can see no way they would both be on the hammock in the first place without serious cooperation.”

Remy’s vocabulary needs a little explanation: Strava is a free/paid app that is used by runners/cyclists/walkers to record time and distance. This is usually posted to Strava friends for kudos.

BQ in that last panel is Boston Qualifier, a time which would qualify you for the Boston Marathon. Women aged 18-34 need a time of 3 hours, 25 minutes or less.

Usual John sends this in: “I can’t help thinking of Idiot Bill Bickel, and the name Bilden Bickworm makes me think that may not be just coincidence. FYI for those who have not been following CIDU for years: Idiot Bill Bickel was (and presumably still is) a real estate agent who had the same name as CIDU Bill (the original moderator of this website) and inexplicably sometimes gave people CIDU Bill’s email address instead of his own.”

I googled Bilden Bickworm and only got three results, all images, one of them being this comic and the others a couple of irrelevant products: Sticky Bloodworm Dumbells and Urban Wyrm High Potency Wormcasts.

I got Google’s AI to delve further, and it seems it came to CIDU seven years ago:

“Bilden Bickworm appears to be a name used in a comic. It is mentioned in a June 2018 post on the website cidu.info, which discusses comics.
“The author notes that “Bilden Bickworm is one of those” (referring to a type of character or element in a comic) and that an earlier draft of the comic used the name “Buckwort” instead.
“This suggests Bilden Bickworm is likely a fictional name used within the context of a comic or humorous piece, rather than referring to a real person.

As to library books – Well, it seems that sometimes checkbooks can hide even better!

I am the treasurer of our reenactment unit and we have a normal personal sized checkbook not a larger business one (cheaper to buy the checks and easier to carry around to events to reimburse members who laid out money for the unit).

I have been missing the checkbook for about 2 weeks and did not have time to deal with it (knew it was in the house) – but we had an event this past Sunday and I had to bring the book to write reimbursement checks (such as the unit “commander”, aka president bought the food to be cooked over the fire for demonstration and “dinner” for the members). I could not find the checkbook – it should be in my middle desk drawer with other assorted checkbooks (personal, business, other club I am treasurer of) it was not. I knew it was not lost and brought another one with me to use. Sure enough I finally found the checkbook on our return home – sitting in the den/our studio behind the kitchen – which had been checked by each of us and had not been there before.

(Best part of reimbursing someone for the cost of the food is that I am no longer the unit cook!)
