And why IS it called “shingles”? ! Does your skin in fact develop something of that texture?

Yes, I am bothered by the screw driver.

Whamond’s extra-remark critters, even when not the squirrel, are usually pretty annoying.

Shingles has a classic pattern resembling a girdle, or cingulus. When I had shingles long ago, I had no idea what it was, but the PA diagnosed it from across the room the instant my shirt was off. For a month my nerves were sending signals that I’ve never felt before or since.
Maybe anti-virals have gotten better since then.

IMHO, those “extra-remark critters” are sometimes funnier than the comic itself.

I knew someone who had shingles. It’s not a fate I’d care to share.

I wonder if one of the screws is Miss Daisy?

Vaccines have. I got both vaccines (Zostavax and then, when it was invented, Shingrix), after being told that my sister’s friend’s mom had gotten shingles in her eye.

I had Chicken Pox as an adult, around 30. I still had a bit of acne and they were where the pox were the worst. When I’d lie down on the bed and the blood stretched my scalp, the pain was so bad that I started to understand why people would prefer to die. That’s when I tried ibuprofen for the first time. 1 little pill took the pain away; wow. ……but I digress. I’d had a pock on my eyeball which left a beige image. Weeks later, when I was fine, I went to the optometrist and he was very upset about it and was resolute that I was still contagious.
