I wanna say 2012 is around the time when references to the Times Square walkaround characters started appearing in national media. Maybe Panel 3 is just a way to show that the characters are doing their stalking in Times Square? Or, going a bit further, is the fiancé inside the Elmo suit?
Yeah, without the Elmo it’s just one of those sorta-maybe-funny-odd things; with that, it’s a total CIDU for me.
Is Elmo smoking a cigar or is mouth drawn oddly?
Elmo is MUCH too young for a girlfriend or to smoke a cigar as he never ages.
