Those who do not live in New York (or do not follow baseball) may not be familiar with the crucial difference between the sans-serif and seriffed “NY” logos: he likes the Yankees, but she prefers the Mets.

Ah. That was a CIDU for me until that explanation. I was wondering about antifa, police, gay pride at first – not that I could make any of them work.

@ V.C. (5) – To be fair, narmitaj lives an ocean (and five time zones) away from the scene of the action.

P.S. I used to have easy access to daily MLB scores and current standings, but the German ARD TV-network dropped that service last year. Yes, the same information is available in the Internet, but the MLB website insists on putting so many streaming clips on their front page that it is simply a P.I.T.A. to get to the scores. Seeing as the Nationals have revived a time-honored Washington tradition (“First in war, first in peace, and last in the Eastern division“), it’s just not worth the trouble.

I just put “MLB” into Google, and it presents a bunch of results. If you click on one, it takes you to a box score.

    Unrelated but –

Robert is not really a sports fan (though in our youth we were all Yankees fans as the Mets had not come along yet). When he was a boy at least twice a business associate of his dad’s invited his dad to a Yankees World Series game and said “I’ll bring my son, you bring yours.” So he has been to 2 World Series games back in (I am guessing) the early 1960s. (I suppose I should ask him who won and not just presume it was the Yankees?)

When he was in grad school a group of fellow students decided to get together and go to a regular Mets game. He invited me to come along. (Long before we married.) Have I ever mentioned that I am afraid of heights (can you see where this is going)? I should have been suspicious due to the price of tickets. We kept walking up and up and up. When I turned around I had to sit down immediately as I was not doing well. I made it through the game. But when it was time to leave I was terrified. Luckily one of his friends is a tall, heavy man and he very nicely walked down in front of me step by step so I could not see how high up we were.

I figured it was two teams…couldn’t possibly have said _what_ teams, let alone which (logo) belonged to which. But this was a vague not-a-CIDU for me.
