    He’s doodling stick figures at work, but given the nature of his work, he wasn’t satisfied making the stick figures on a notepad. He made himself into a doodle.

    I was kinda shocked when I found out Reddy Kilowatt was used by electric companies all over the country. I had thought he was a mascot just for our local one, Florida Power & Light.

    @Mitch4

    I had the same feeling a few years back when I learned that Louie the Lightning Bug (voiced by the late Jack Sheldon of Schoolhouse Rock/”I’m Just a Bill” fame) was apparently a sort of Gen X/Gen Y version of Reddy Kilowatt. As a kid I thought he was a creation of Houston Lighting and Power rather than the national electricity safety mascot/campaign animated by Bob Kurtz’s studio that he actually was.

    There is just a tiny bit of resemblance between Reddy Kilowatt and Gyro Gearloose’s “Helper”.

    I remember NIPSCO using Reddy. As a kid, I didn’t know that there was more than one Electric Company — or Telephone Company, for that matter. Of course, in any given area, there still isn’t.

    Don’t remember Reddy at all. Does not mean he was not around here, but don’t remember him. When Robert comes down for late night (pre-bed) snack I will ask him if he remembers him. Robert is older than me – by an entire year and a half and remembers things that I was just a bit too young to remember. (Plus everything I was suppose to do now and didn’t.) Though mostly we reached at least a couple of decades ago that point where the question comes up “Did that happen to me or to you?”
