Mark H. notes: If you study the cartoon carefully, you’ll notice that it is impossible in a clinch like that for the glasses to be in that position on Edda’s nose. The bend of the temples would be up, not down.
Unless the clinch was significantly more complex than we were shown…
All the artist did was to draw the glasses in the third frame in the same position that they were in in the second frame, forgetting, of course, that the tableau has been rotated by 180 degrees to facilitate the dialog order.
P.S. The conundrum that I find more puzzling is how he has managed to fit his entire rib cage between her knees in the first two panels.
P.P.S. It is high time to change the address of this strip. Considering its incessant subject matter, I think “4 Play Blvd.” would be more appropriate.
@Kilby: On your P.S., remember she’s a ballerina (ex-, I guess) and very flexible…
And Amos is notoriously gracile in build.
Thank you, Powers. I learned a new word today.
The strip has really devolved of late. It’s either Amos and Edda clinching or flashbacks to when they were kids, with precursor behavior to the later clinching.
Brooke McEldowney always comes through in the clinch.
Now that Pibgorn has resumed, it looks like it’s going in the same direction.
@ Mark H. – If the illustration and story for Wed. 23 Aug. 2023 are any indication, it’s already gone way past that point. I knew there was a reason I quit reading it (long ago).
