If two people do it it’s a thing.

Small children wanting to be vehicals or machinery is a thing and I image firetruck is high up there. The most popular one is probably dump truck though.

    That kid doesn’t look two.

In an interview, Adam Sandler said that his parents weren’t supportive, because when he was younger he wanted to be a fire truck. It was pretty funny (he had good delivery). Dunno if it was a true story.

When my grandson was two, he’d agree to anything you said in an excited voice. Unfortunately, he grew out of that.

“In an interview, Adam Sandler said that his parents weren’t supportive, because when he was younger he wanted to be a fire truck.”

Well, he’s got enough money now to last him for a while, so what’s stopping him from dropping out of show biz for a while, going to fire truck school, and following his dreams?

Shrug, becoming a fire truck is a long and difficult process. For someone like Sandler to just drop out of a lucrative business is asking a lot.

    Contractual obligations, presumably.

I wouldn’t be supportive of anybody becoming a firetruck. I’ve seen so many old, outdated fire trucks languishing forlorn on sales lots, forgotten and unwanted.

Kinda like some actors over the years. :-)

If I were a firetruck I’d be embarrassed all the time because my hose would be out where everyone could see it.

I wasn’t sure what you meant, but I see you have a lot of comments that went directly to Spam. That’s really rare. I check Moderation several times a day, but Spam only when there’s a reason (because it’s not unusual for more then a hundred comments to — rightfully — get caught there every day).

If a comment of yours ever disappears, please e-mail me and let me know.

Only peripherally related, but still one of my favorites. A woman said she knew she had Mommy Brain when she was sitting near the window of a nice coffee shop sipping a latte and a fire truck drove by. She said, “I said, oooh, fire truck! by reflex before I remembered I did not have my two-year old son with me.”

Can’t imagine why a kid would want to be a vehicle, but if I did have such a desire it would be to be the “Knight Rider” car. The original from the ’80s.

OK, I think you just described the premise of the next Adam Sandler movie (hey, remember “Bedtime Stories”?).

Also, the kid would have to be 2 going on 3.

I remember pretending to be jetfighters in kindergarten: running with our arms behind us, like the spirit of ecstasy and roaring.

I had a male friend in upper the years of elementary school who pretended that he was a bus. He would walk around making engine and shifting noises and when he stopped he would put his arm out as the door of the bus.

I just saw recently that someone with the same name is head of some agency in an adjacent town and I keep meaning to look and see if it is him. (Boy, I am glad my mom did not keep dating his dad in high school, but introduced her friend to his dad -and they were married and had a son who wanted to be a bus.

Playing train also: first kid shuffles their feet and move their arms like the connecting rods of a steam locomotive; other kids hold each other’s waist: they’re cars.
