“Hind lick maneuver.” Attila is licking his? her? behind, instead of attempting to dislodge the thing being choked upon.

“Hind-lick maneuver” is a joke that people were telling in the 1990s. It’s probably been around as long as the Heimlich maneuver.

@ Andréa – For some reason, it is impossible to determine the original date of that strip at gocomics, but maybe this URL will show up inline here:

thank you . . . originally, it was 6/25/06. And it’s still funny today (well, to me, anyway; I probably saw the original in our dead tree news at that time).

@ woozy – That date is the same one that I saw, and would have placed the strip in “Opus” territory, so I think it is probably an error. The strip is labeled #137 on Breathed’s site, but that doesn’t seem to concur with the numbering of existing strips. I thought it appeared as part of the “#metoo” sequence, not all that long ago.

@ Andréa – Has this strip been posted to CIDU on a previous occasion? That could explain why I remember seeing it “recently”, even though the first “throwaway” panel clearly indicates a 2016 publishing date.

I read the BLOOM COUNTY 2019 strips on GoComics as they are posted, and definitely recall seeing this one there within the last six months; probably within the last three or so. I can’t explain the 2016 alleged date either. (I believe BB posts hi BC2019 strips on Facebook for a bit before they go up on GoComics, but surely the time lag there is a matter of days or weeks, not of years? (I”m not on Facebook.)

@ Shrug – Thanks for confirming that I am not hallucinating. The delay (from FB to GC) is normally exactly one week. Breathed does insert his own selection of “reruns” from time to time, but I just traversed the last few months of the GoComics archive, and this strip is no longer there. It would appear that it has been yanked, but I have no idea why anyone would do so.
