The only thing anyone came up with on gocomics last year when this ran was “taboo” instead of “about.” That seems unlikely to me, because while “taboo” might almost be almost “about” scrambled, but it isn’t very close to “about” backwards, and the resulting sentence doesn’t make grammatical sense.

The best I can come up with looking at this again is “late.” If you reverse the spelling, you get “etal,” which could be pronounced ee-t(ə)l, which is close to sounding like “evil” which would give us, “It’s about a civilization too evil for that.”

I honestly can’t stand Frazz. Every single character is so smug, self-satisfied, self-righteous and self-absorbed. They all know they’re the smartest people in the room; the bathroom mirror told them so.

Frazz is like Funky Winkerbean if every single character was Les Moore.

“Every single character is so smug, self-satisfied, self-righteous and self-absorbed. ”

I think I’m with you on this. It wouldn’t be so bad it they actually had any insight and intelligence but they are all so … pedestrian. It’s kind of irritating to see them treated as these insightful souls when all evidence puts them as the folks who are used to being the hot dogs under a heat lamp in a party of room temperature macaroni salad.

There’s nothing wrong with being the smartest person in the room: Just with feeling the need to keep reminding people you are.

“There’s nothing wrong with being the smartest person in the room: Just with feeling the need to keep reminding people you are.”

And then you smugly write about being the smartest person in room, and it gets read by people who are as smart and smarter than you and it looks …

“Is there no room for the man with 105 IQ?!”

Well, maybe not in Springfield but elsewhere…?

Maybe it’s a mid-west thing: after all, in neighboring Minnesota (Michigan and Minnesota share a water border!) there’s the community where all the children are above average…

woozy: on the hot dog analogy — llol (literally laughed out loud, to the point I had to explain to my wife what I was laughing about)

I don’t see them as “smug, self-satisfied, self-righteous and self-absorbed”, but rather gently laughing at themselves, their situations, and life around them. To me they usually have a twinkle in their eye and a tiny hint of a smile.

Yeah, I figured I was in the minority and I certainly don’t dislike it as much as beckoningchasm but I just feel they just aren’t as clever as Mallet thinks or wants them to be.
