The Arlo Award wasn’t around when this first appeared, so I present it to Jan Eliot now.

Meh. Sometimes a building is just a building.
And sometimes it’s a penis.
In this case, preponderance of evidence suggests the latter.
Are you suggesting that men who erect tall buildings, or commission them to be built are perhaps overcompensating for inadequacies?

That is Ms. Eliot’s suggestion, yes.
If only Bill would let me elaborate on Mona’s statement with a comment about somebody bragging about the size of the wall he wants to build.
AFAIK, nobody’s telling him he can’t build as big a wall as he’d like.
It’s the “with our money” that’s providing the holdup.
When my wife attended Texas Women’s University, it had just completed construction of Stark Hall, a 21 story dormitory (tallest building in Denton, TX). The current president was John Guinn, an old white male (of course), so it was affectionately referred to as “Guinn’s last erection.”
Didn’t Elon Musk shoot a car into space? True, the rocket was phallic, but the payload was his ‘baby’. Maybe progress is being made.
Today’s “Rubes” indicates that this behavior has been going on for a very long time:
I’m not the only one here who finds it hilarious that “women are discharged from hospital immediately after childbirth” is presented as a *bad* thing, right? That sounds like a huge improvement over today. The local hospital has managed to earn the baby-friendly label, but despite that (and yes, I’m aware it’s “baby-friendly”, not “mother-friendly”), if you’re admitted for childbirth, you should expect to stay at least 24 hours post-partum. (I was admitted after the baby was born with my second, so I “only” had to stay about 16 hours post-partum.
