Entering the final week at $1360 (the MoD page for CIDU says $1329, but that’s because $31 was accidentally credited to the Bickel Boys team; I could probably get them to fix that, but I can’t imagine why it would matter).
Ah, Tom Sawyer. I got this for my Secret Santa gift in second, maybe third grade. I was disappointed to receive A BOOK. Until I read it — the first “real book” I read. I was hooked! I later read it to each of my daughters as a long set of bedtime stories when they were in third grade.
The last time I was through Hannibal, I toured Mark Twain Cavern, just south of town. The cave part of Tom Sawyer uses a lot of the actual landmarks in the cave, which was neat. (Otherwise, this dry cave is nothing really special — no spectacular stalagtites, for example.)
Bill – some years ago I suggested to our reenactment unit that we needed a (modern) banner to carry in parades and when we are asked to show up for the swearing in of the Town presiding supervisor as no one seems to know who we are. (At the swearing in there are all of the civic groups and the fellow running it will keep asking – who are you again – thought the clothing would give it away.)
One of our unit is an artist and made us a (modern) unit flag and I added velcro so that it can also go over a horizontal bar and be a parade banner. (Tie it vertically on the pole – it is a flag; take it off the pole, and velcro the top edge over the horizontal pole it is a banner.)
We do the annual St Patricks parade and I set off at the head of group. It was a small turnout of other than fellows who would be firing guns and I had to carry the banner myself – boy did I regret suggesting it. I just checked with Robert and he thinks the parade route is about 3 miles (I think a bit less). It was actually easier to carry the town flag on a similar pole as a flag in the Memorial Day parade one year – although that parade is slightly shorter (except the “men at arms” and flag bearer have to climb the old cemetery hill after the parade for the unit’s annual ceremony where original members are buried and I had to do it with them – now I know the “secret ceremony”.
What’s their definition of ‘carry’? maybe you could put one around your neck or something. I mean, if you wanted to.
$975 so far. I can’t believe I’m rooting for a man to beat his wife.
Congratulations on passing last year’s total!
I know it could change but are you currently beating your wife?
