Although… now that I think about it, I wonder if it would have been better for the pizza to be lined up and falling like dominoes.

Yes, after that push from the back, they are falling over like a line of dominos. And this is taking place at a Dominos Pizza. So that is funny because … hmm, I don’t know.

I agree with Danny that both the hand and the facial expression of the last guy in line makes it look like he caused the pile-up, but the indeterminate placement of the five “thumps” make it difficult to be sure, since the first woman in line does not look like she has made contact with the cashier’s table.

P.S. It seems unlikely that “falling dominoes” imagery has not already appeared in a TV ad for the pizza, especially considering the successful ten-year run of “Domino Day“.

P.S. Among the usual problems with McPherson’s artwork, I was going to criticize him for not even bothering to copy the logo correctly, but it turns out that Domino’s simplified their design in 2012.

Next he’ll have all the people at Little Caesar’s stabbing each other in the back.

Kilby (4): I can’t imagine how much time and effort it must take to place millions of dominoes like that.

    chemgal (6): Funny indeed!

We are very happy that apparently Dominos went to mostly getting their orders online. No more phone calls for them at our house!

We (some decades ago) suddenly were getting phone calls for the local Dominos. We have a phone number which happens to end in 3030 – so did theirs due to their ready in 30 min. To make it even more fun – our phone number has an 8 in the prefix and theirs has a 3 in the spot in their prefix which apparently hungry people read as 8!! Superbowl Sunday!!!

The phone number was also similar – again a difference of a single digit – to a local doctor’s office and we would calls in the middle of the night – since my dad was ill and on his way to dying at the time a midnight phone call for the doctor would have me sitting up in bed in fear on the first ring.

Yet another combination of the numbers was similar to an eyeglass shop in a mall about 1/2 an hour away.

Then the doctor’s office closed and, even better, the number was transferred to a local hospital for a while.

@ Boise Ed (7) – I believe the production company had a large crew of volunteer high school and college students to assist in setting up the various displays, each team worked on its own special section. They used special racks to set up a lot of dominoes in one operation; they did not set up every single domino by hand.

Every year the goal was to increase the current Guinness record (there was a similar, competing operation somewhere in Asia). As I recall, one year there was a significant accident that triggered a large section of the dominoes to fall shortly before the broadcast date, which had to be rebuilt very quickly, either endangering or preventing them from winning the record that year.
