Not to splash cold water on your CIDU, but I thought it fairly clear that the file he is looking at has the spelling with two ts; and that is why he calls it wrong. And the joke is that we take his protests in panel 3 to say there is terrible misinformation in the file — but it turns out he just means spelling.
Danny Boy — I think you’re probably right, but the usual idiomatic usage is to say “Hey, ‘Danny’ has two ‘n’s”, meaning that it was spelled with one. To avoid this confusion, this would have been better if it had read “Abducted should only have one ‘t'”.
The MAIN joke is that he’s trying to get back home, claiming to have been abducted against his will. In panel 3, there’s hope that his boss agrees that this was morally wrong, and might help him get home. In panel 4, the boss is merely annoyed at a spelling error, and has absolutely no ethical qualms about the involuntary servitude.

P.S. When I first saw this strip, I thought it had set a record for the ugliest font ever produced, but looking more closely, it’s hand-lettered. Still, the over-inflated sizes of some of the consonants (SYLGTS) in the first two panels is quite irritating, as is the inconsistent use of capital and lowercase forms (R/r, b/D).
The correct way to misspell spelling is seplling. (pronounced sep ling).
In the world long before spell check was invented – in 6th grade I had to go for extra help with seplling. (as I seplled it then).
