I’ve sometimes sung this version on group rides:
“Folsom Prison Bikes”
I hear those bikes a comin’
They’re rolling round the bend
And I ain’t seen the Green Bay Trail
Since I don’t know when,
But I’m stuck in Folsom prison,
And time’s a draggin’ load.
But those bikes keep a rollin’
On down to Sher’dan Road
When I was just a baby
My mama told me. Son,
Always wear a helmet,
and never ride with guns.
But I stole a bike in Reno
Just to have a ride
When I hear a bike bell ringin’,
I hang my head and cry.
“Facebook Prison Blues” is a nice parody some of us can relate to:
😜 Ha! Good one!
The first time I saw “Pollyanna,” I didn’t understand what prison they were talking about.
I like this bit from the movie “Walk the Line”, the movie biography of Johnny Cash:
Johnny Cash: I got a couple of songs I wrote in the Air Force. You got anything against the Air Force?
Sam Phillips: No.
Johnny Cash: I do.
Pollyanna?
Glass walls do not a prism make,
Nor wide gratings diffract.
It’s been more than 50 years since I saw “Pollyanna” but I remember that she had a thing for prisms and the rainbows that they cast.
Pollyanna was another movie which was barely related to the original book – true of most movies made from books (as I mentioned about “Little Women” and how husband feels about James Bond movies- though he likes many of many of them, but they have little to do with the book – “Dr. No”, the book, was about guano as an example.
