Hmm. Don’t know. Might it be something to do with the health benefits of chicken soup? https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/will-chicken-soup-really-cure-your-cold
But in this case, the unfortunate bird seems still to be alive (if it is the one going PIIP). Also, this seems to be a psychiatric session. Is there a mental health benefit to hunting?
It’s not a squeaky toy, is it? A giant rubber chicken?
I think the animal on the couch is supposed to be a wolf or fox (obviously just back from the henhouse). Presumably he was trying to sooth his anxiety with food as medication.
I’m with Lazarusjohn. He’s medicating his anxiety with a rubber chew toy, and increasing the “dosage” by getting progressively larger rubber chickens. This progression is not sustainable.
This is one of the best reasons for this website – explaining comics I don’t understand. Dvandom & Lazarusjohn put it straight. Thank you, and thank you CIDU Bill.
As an owner of a dog who loves chew toys I can relate to this comic – sooner or later the chew toy is demolished and the hunt is on for one that is yet larger and more sturdy.
