You’re supposed to expect that Jeff, being small, would use the kiddie umbrella. Then you’re supposed to smile when you see that he keeps the big one and gives the small one to Mutt.
Okay, the comic was dark enough I didn’t even notice that the large one was cut so Mutt could be half covered by it and stick out to have his head covered by the small one.
I guess the humor was actually “what a weird way to solve the problem.”

Well, they are *still* trying to share an umbrella. Why they feel they *need* to share an umbrella when the have two is… well, it works for me.
