Why do I get the feeling Arlo would actually like a security light, especially if it had “auto record on detection.”
Cookouts in the dark, Arthur? No wonder they stopped: impossible to tell whether the hamburgers were burning.
Bill, with a switched light, you have light. With a motion-detecting light, you have light until you don’t move around enough. There have been many tales of office workers who had to resort to fans with streamers in order to not have their lights go out while they’re reading or typing.
Not that I’m serious about any of this….
The last office I worked in had motion-sensitive lights that went to that mode at 5:30 or so. The detectors were fairly sensitive so I usually just had to lean back in my chair. It wasn’t that dark anyway, as several panels were always on.
Or, Brian, you could just go home.
“Or, Brian, you could just go home.”
Or bring a possum to work with you and let it scuttle around.
@Shrug wins the thread!

When I was a productive member of society, I didn’t go into the office all that early. So I’d stay until at least 6 or so. Now it’s not a problem. Or not the same problem. I do still have to get up and all that.

My wife’s one of them. It took a while for us to find a USB-powered fan that was both quiet enough to not bother her, and powerful enough to keep the streamers moving enough. Eventually she hacked one together from a computer case fan and stuff; shortly thereafter, the switch in her bay was changed to something not stupid, so she never actually got to use it much.
We have all of our outdoor lights except the front door ones on motion detectors. The two in the back yard go on and stay on if it rains (and these are the new ones because the old ones were doing so). The one on the front of the garage only goes on if one walks through a specific spot on the driveway – we will be doing something and I keep having to run to the back of the RV and then come up the driveway again to turn it on. The one in the side porch needs to be waved at to stay on. So while stacking newspapers and tying them together for recycling, I have to keep waving at the light also.
What a shame that they’ve stopped doing cookouts.
