    Often, news photos will identify who is in the picture, and then mention one or more people in the story who are “not pictured”. This is an absurd take on that.

    In photos of groups, the caption will name all the people in the photo, then list all the people who are in the group but not the photo as “not pictured”. Things like yearbooks will have a page for all the campus groups, and each one will have a group photo that doesn’t necessarily have all the members in the photo.
    This time, there’s only one person in the photo, but everybody else is a member of the group.
