It’s possible to describe Charon, the Greek psychopomp, as “Death”. His function is not unlike the Hindu Yama-Dharma, except that the Greeks split the judging function away from the soul-collecting function.
Charon and Death are generally depicted as wearing the same clothes, at least in popular culture.
So, is this a deliberate Death in Venice reference or just happenstance?
