A Really, Really Final Walkathon Update (Probably)

Another snail mail contribution boosted the total to $1467. And yet again, I give a huge thank you to the CIDU community.

If anybody else has sent a no-tech contribution, or plans to, or needs specifics on how to, please let me know ASAP. Otherwise, I’ll officially close the book on a very successful Walk.

    Welcome to Chicago, Bill. I’d come cheer you on, but I don’t know what you look like. And besides, the 29th is my birthday, so I expect I’ll be having something else to do.

    LOL, that’s Navy Pier. It’s been my experience that you can’t get there from … well, anywhere.

    I did make it, though. As I said, it became a matter of principle.

    Now, I guess I have to figure out where I am in relation to everything else. Should be fun when my phone battery (and therefore GPS) dies in about 3 minutes…

    The logo’s been gently bugging me for weeks, sort of a subconscious CapIDU. Now explained, it feels kind of fun.

    I am writing after the fact as I don’t get on CIDU until Monday (or in this case Tuesday) – but I hope (am sure) all went well and your tootsies and your son’s are recovering nicely.

    Stan, I’m sorry to have to say that the deep-dish pizza I had in Chicago was possibly the worst alleged pizza I’ve had in my life. What’s with the sweet sauce?

    Thanks, Meryl. The walk itself was a piece of cake — I walked that far last month just because I was in the mood for pizza — but after the walk, my son suggested we rent bikes and ride around the Lake (not all the way around it, of course). Unfortunately I hadn’t been on a bike in more than ten years and about a mile and a half into the ride a muscle in my right calf said “This can go two ways: you can stop now and you’ll be sore for a while, or you can keep going and you’ll be crippled for the rest of the week.”

    Bill, negatively commenting on Chicago pizza is a hanging offense.

    Was it a chain or a mom & pop?

    re “A donation that just arrived by snail mail boosted the total to $1427” — we could donate by snail mail? If you told us that, I missed it. I Don’t Do Credit Card Thingss (other than in emergencies), but if I’d known I could have sent you a check I would have done so.

    I’m pretty sure they’re still accepting pledges for 2018 for a while. My mailing address is Box 60, Mount Freedom NJ 07970.

    And I’ll remember to mention the snail-mail option next spring.
