He’s very fast at stealing the glasses right off someone’s head, and putting them on his own face. So fast, the other guy didn’t even notice.
To add to the above, he passes the aptitude test to work for QPI.
So the joke is …. there is a company of quick people. And they hire quick people…..
The laughs just keep on coming.
Maybe quick people, besides being people who are quick (in general, at anything), are the people who snap out “Quick!” at the head of action suggestions or even requests. Like “Quick! Tell me about personnel practices!”.
They are related to “Go! people” who finish their imperatives by saying that word. Like, “Who can list the most Human Resources pitfalls in hiring? GO!”
Plus, he’s not only saying what the boss wants to hear, he looks like the boss because he’s wearing the boss’ glasses.
I think the scenario for this one is that there was another joke prepared, and the cartoonist accidentally drew glasses on the one guy and thought, “Oh, carp, I’ve ruined the damned thing.” Then he thought, “Wait…maybe that can be the joke.”
I think beckoningchasm has a very charitable outlook. ;-)
Eh, I thought this one was kind of fun. YMMV – and obviously does.
I like that exclamation, “Oh carp!”
I like it. He’s interviewing for a job. He’s telling the hiring manager that he’s remarkably quick. The hiring manager thinks he’s just bs’ing him; that, although he’s CLAIMING to be qualified, he’s just SAYING stuff to be hired. The interviewee demonstrates that he’s so quick that he can get the glasses off the manager’s face, which demonstrates to the manager that he’s not just SAYING he’s quick, he can back it up, and so the candidate is hired.
The BLAZING SADDLES sequel we didn’t ask for: Waco Kid: The Corporate Dork Years.
I think there’s two levels… first, he’s quick because he can snatch the glasses off the other fellow so fast he didn’t even notice, but he’s ALSO quick because he figured out that this is a desirable trait that this company seeks in new employees… he didn’t have to be TOLD “show me how fast you can move”… he figured that this would be a good time to show off that little trick.
“Wanna see my quick draw? … Wanna see it again?”
Should have a glass of chocolate milk on the desk.
Quik.
That stuff you put in milk to make chocolate milk.
Well, I guess if I have to explain it, it’s not funny either.
Mark in Boston – There is (or at least was) Strawberry Quik also.
