“Devastating” in that Fermi’s Paradox has been answered. We’re not alone, we’re just being actively ignored. And worse, passed over for awards.

Commentary on humanity’s self-centeredness. Rather than being thrilled at proof of intelligent life, we’re devastated because it doesn’t like us as much as Mars.

I’m not sure what age I could have been, but when I had heard of “The State of The Union” annual event, but did not yet understand what it was, I thought it was some kind of award, choosing one of the states to be the chosen one for the year, and to be announced and awarded by the President. Much like the Miss America contest which had also been on TV, and selected one of the contestants BY STATE name to be the award winner for the course of the following year. “Will we be the State of the Union this year, will Florida win and be next year’s State among the Union?”

So sure, a little shocking to learn Mars has been Planet of the Solar System for so long.

Good morning, Mona. For now, I went with Corgi puppies. Not a bad opener, I think, and it leaves me plenty of room to go darker. Thanks for your help.
