My cat will do this to me on occasion. Not as hard as Luddy appears to have done, though.
I’ve occasionally been nipped by a cat. Never on the nose, though. Usually the fingers.
I once shared a home with a cat who would bat and nip if you tried to stop petting him before he was done being pet. I corrected the behavior immediately and within a week or so, it was gone. He never did it again, in the couple of years that cat lived in my house. Then he went back home, and the cat redeveloped the habit and never lost it again in his lifetime.
(It was my ex-wife’s cat… she decided to move to Hawaii, and it is complicated, tedious, and somewhat expensive to bring a cat from the mainland to the Islands. She was going to get the process started “soon” for the entire time she lived there. If you’re guessing that that particular cat never set paw on any of those particular islands, you are correct.
