It is, of course, a butter knife. A knife designed and intended solely for cutting butter.

The next question is going to be “and whose knife is this?”

    The defendant sure looks guilty.

I don’t see a CIDU tag, but I see it “Posted in: CIDU.” With the new system, doesn’t that mean it’s a CIDU?

A “butter knife,” for those in the strip, like like a “human knife” or “murder knife” would be for us.

I’d vote for eliminating both the “Posted in CIDU” and the “Post format” lines (if that is possible). If you can’t tell whether there’s an image there, then you won’t be able to read the text, either.

Wouldn’t it make more sense if the one in the stand was the only human, and everyone else was butter.?

I think it would be better to have the link to the comments below the comic (with the tags), instead of above.

You’re noticing a difference between “categories” and “tags”in WP. (Here CIDU is a Category, and the other six labels are Tags.)

They used to be very different things, but WP redid their taxonomy and Category and Tag are very similar, with just a few lingering differences. Some of the differences in how they are displayed are up to the Theme being applied, and can vary or disappear with a different theme.

The behind the scenes differences are in how simply new ones are created, and how they are assigned to a post by the author.

Those differences are probably important on other multiple-admin blogs, but here at CIDU we have only one author (“Author! Author!”), and the other details seem to be things that I just don’t need to know. As far as I’m concerned, the less (space-wasting) information, the better. That goes especially for anything that works like a link (tap that line on a phone, and one is mystically whisked away to some other summary page).

I will offer an opinion on one of those points. And I think you’ll agree! It’s eventually pretty useful to have the Tags (and possibly Categories) act as links. That way you can quickly find all posts that involved (and were correctly tagged for) a particular strip or artist.

Turned out I have to enter something under “categories.” And the “pasted in” line isn’t optional, as much as we’d probably all like it gone.

I’m not sure whether that’s a WordPress thing or a function of this template, but that’s another reason I’m doing it this way.

Ah, but this is an Agatha Christy murder mystery, so the true culprit is I Can’t Believe It’s NOT Butter!
