There’s talk of Joe Kennedy running for president in 2020.
Robert Kennedy’s grandson.
Robert Kennedy’s grandson!
How did that much time go by?

You made this geezer LOL!
Far too quickly, IMHO . . .
So does the Kennedy name have more cachet or baggage these days? Sometimes for me the cachet *is* the baggage.
What? Surely Robert Kennedy’s father is dead by now…

At some point I noticed there s an actor who is billed as Armie Hammer. I wondered if his full name might be Armand, and if so would he be related to the famous Armand Hammer?
The answers are yes and yes. The original one was this current guy’s great-grandfather.
But then I was unsure, if younger people today might not be amused by the name,. Kids, are you familiar with the “Arm And Hammer” brand? And their old striking logo, that looked so much like the hammer and sickle? And assuming this had something to do with why the original Armand Hammer was making big business deals in the Soviet Union long before other Americans were positioned to do so?
Maybe not that much. Grankids can be only 40 years younger than their grandparents. On the other hand, President John Tyler was born in 1790, and has two living grandchildren.
@ Mitch4 – I believe that Armand Hammer once tried to buy the company that made the baking soda, but was turned down by their management. Such a pity, it would have made for amusing publicity (hard to understand why the company didn’t recognize that).
I recently saw a car with an advertising sticker suggesting that
it had been bought from Armand Hummer.
Thank you for making me feel young, Bill. >_>
Ignatzz, I know they were alive in the 1990s — which is impressive enough — but are they still?
It’d mean the male Tylers reproduce at almost 70 (late marriage or re-marriage ?). The grandsons never met their grandfather but since Tylers seem to live to a ripe old age, sons might have had their fathers until into their twenties.
This year is the fiftieth anniversary of RFK’s assassination.
Powers, that reminds me of this:
(Okay, now I have to figure out why embedding the image didn’t work)
Mitch4 – I recall that at some point in the past Armand Hammer (the elder) was said to have purchased Arm & Hammer as he was tired of people asking if he was the owner of it. But this was back in the preInternet days and there was no way to know if it was “fake news” back then.
They are from Pres.Tyler’s second wife – Long Island’s own Julia Gardiner. Apparently their dad then married twice also and they are from his second wife also. So their dad was from late in Pres. Tyler’s life (and Julia is a character at the Civil War Museum in Harrisburg, PA so she was still alive during same and living in the south) and they are from late in their dad’s life.
On the reruns of “I’ve Got a Secret” from the early 1960’s there is an episode in which they have two older women (I am guessing really old, not just looking old to my modern eyes) whose grandfather was in the in American Revolution.
As to Joe Kennedy III – we have at least 2 local politicians named John Kennedy. One is actually John F. Kennedy. No relation and one is a Republican (not sure of the other).

Well, I am impressed.
@ Bill – Wikipedia says that the two Tyler brothers (born 1924 & 1928) were “still alive as of October 2017.
P.S. As of 2024, only Harrison Ruffin Tyler still survives.
