“I think it goes without saying that anybody who already read this Bizarro panel should not respond.”

    But . . . you DID say it . . .

I’m disqualified, I guess, as I already saw this. But I did not recall the caption. When I saw it again, I won’t give it away, but will opine that it’s a fine pun!

    What? There’s a pun?

Isn’t the idea that bank robber would be more concerned about carbon emissions than the ability to make a quick getaway enough of a joke?

    Making a clean getaway?????

Is the speaker threatening the driver? That’s a no idle threat.

“similar robbery scenario”… that must be “heist”. “wheelman” is awkward… must be part of it…

    @woozy

A wheelman who is arrested for turning off the car to save the forest may be found guilty of idle-a-tree.

The passenger values and lauds running the car too much. It’s idle worship.

The drive observes the car in idle the car off is environmentally unsound in the city. (It’s okay in the less developed rural areas) .Whether the robbery will be successful or not is unknown due to the drivers observations. That’s the Heist-in-Burg Uncertainty Principle.

Cops sometimes leave their cars running when perhaps they shouldn’t. Leading to criminals taking off in them.

“I think it’s good as is. No need for a caption.”

I agree. But while a sundae is fine as is, it’s better with the Maraschino cherry on top. The caption is not needed, but is an additional, worthwhile, joke.

“But while a sundae is fine as is, it’s better with the Maraschino cherry on top. ”

    That’s a matter of taste…

Well, I broke down and looked it up. It’s fine pun but a bit anticlimactic.

I looked it up, too, and I think, while the comic as written is good, some of the stuff here is better.

    Maraschino cherries have taste? :-P

I got impatient and checked the Bizarro site for the full comic, and found it amusing enough.

I thought the caption was OK, but not worth the hype of concealing it. However, looking it up (and reading through a week’s worth of comics to find it) reminded me why I dropped Bizarro from my daily link list. Each individual comic is OK to read, but after a while they just get tiresome, and the distraction of the ubiquitous Easter eggs just doesn’t help.

If these two characters had been happy and tranquil in this car, this could have been an idyll conversation.

Maraschino cherries are one of those artificial foods that is imitating a real food, Luxardo marasca cherries in syrup. If you ever get a chance, pick up a jar. You eat one, and you go, “Oh! I see what maraschino cherries are attempting to be, and failing.”
