So the x-Men-and-Women are a group of superheros who work together? Sort of like a League of Justice?
The X-Men is one of the most successful and popular superhero group. They are a huge Marvel movie Franchise second only really to the Avengers. They are… not obscure.
I think Mitch4 is being ironic.
Was Irony Man one of the X-Men?
“The Avengers”? Oh, I know that one. It was (Dame) Diana Rigg as Emma Peel!
Just as an aside, MUTTS has an arc this week about ComiCon; today features Hulk (and no, I’ve no idea which franchise this is from, nor do I care).
Aaaand now I know (altho I hope I won’t remember) that the Hulk is one of the Avengers, WITHOUT Dame Emma Peel . . .
Why do stars fall down from the sky/Every time you walk by?
I thought for sure this thread was going to be about gender stereo-type super heroes…
“I think Mitch4 is being ironic.”
Oh…. I suppose…. but if so, why?
Old Looney Tunes gag: In a nightclub full of celebrity caricatures, we see J. Edgar Hoover with a big badge identifying him as a “G MAN”. He looks at the camera and just keeps saying “GEE!” over and over.
Just wanted to share.
Andréa, I saw that Hilburn comic and thought it would have been better as Ikea rather than Lego.
I like the LEGO ’cause, IMHO, all these superheros appeal to kids, or at least, were thought to do so. IKEA is much too ‘grown up’ for them.
@ Andrea – Even though I have never seen a single Marvel film since Disney bought the franchise, I did know that Ant-Man Is a real character (created in 1962). What I did not know (or had willfully ignored) is that he had a movie of his own (in 2015).
Well, if he was FIRE Ant Man, he’d not need any super power – just a bite is enough (having had several, I speak from experience).
And might I promote here the ORIGINAL ‘The Tick’ . . . with Patrick Warburton. I actually have this DVD and think it is a hoot, even tho I don’t know the characters who are being parodied.
Andréa: Well, then I’m going to promote the ORIGINAL ORIGINAL ‘The Tick,’ . . . with Micky Dolenz (from the Monkees).
Kilby: Ant-Man has had two movies by now.
“Andréa: Well, then I’m going to promote the ORIGINAL ORIGINAL ‘The Tick,’ . . . with Micky Dolenz (from the Monkees).”
Realee? Never heard of it . . . maybe I’ll check out YouTube.
Well, I found a movie called TICKS, with Ami Dolenz, but I think it’s the wrong movie and the wrong Dolenz . . .
@ WW – I was already inordinately proud of my ignorance when I didn’t know about one of those movies.
So THAT’s where the idea came from . . . fun to know.
Andréa: That’s just the original TV series. The idea came from a comic book series. I once had hard copies of them; I’m not sure if I threw them away, or still have them somewhere.
Wait, I’m pretty sure Patrick Warburton was the voice of the Tick in the animated series, and Mickey Dolenz was Arthur… I could just look it up, but what fun would that be?
I just watched the first episode, and it didn’t sound like Warburton to me . . . I’d’ve enjoyed it more if it had been. OK – I’ll look it up . . .
Creator: Ben Edlund
Stars: Townsend Coleman, Micky Dolenz, Rob Paulsen
Micky Dolenz was Arthur for only 14 episodes; Rob Paulsen was Arthur (and other characters’ voices) for 34 episodes.
Warburton played The Tick in the live series a few years later.
@ Andréa – Thanks for the link. I’ve been getting tired of the irrelevant fluff and commercialism on McDonnell’s own website, so I think it’s time to switch to the lesser of two evils for my daily “Mutts” fix. That will sacrifice the Sunday intro panel, but it’s been a very long time since a worthwhile homage appeared there.
P.S. Alas, the world is no longer a “Marvel”, it’s become a “Disney”.
I forgot about the intro panel . . .
I went back to May, and you’re right, there hasn’t been an intro panel worth looking at (at which it’s worth looking).
