Whalesong supposedly has “accents”, where a specific familial group sings the same song, and it varies over the seasons as the familial group grows, splits off, recombines with others. So yeah, a whale is listening only to songs produced by his friends…

I’m with woozy–I thought the shot glasses were supposed to be meaningful. I mean, obviously he took the time to draw them all. They were like Chekhov’s Shot Glasses, I thought.
