I’m going with prosperity theology. Maybe CEOs do ethically and morally dodgy things — or even occasionally downright evil — in order to help their quarterly profit/loss statements. And there’s the question of “how could anybody choose to do evil in the pursuit of profit, if they believe that there is any sort of eternal reward and punishment?”

Well, the answer is that your eternal reward and punishment is based your last-quarter stock price when you die, not just whether you’re a good person or not.

who was it who said Cornered was taking a recognized phrase and applying it when one doesn’t usually? Any way, corporate people care about business. Saint Peter cares about morality. But what if St. Peter cared about corporate business as well.

    That’s it.

Jesus famously didn’t care much for money (In this world). Apparently, upon reflection, it turns out to be important, after all.

I took it as the CEO failed so miserably St. Peter took pity upon him, while sarcastically muttering, “Bless his little heart.”
