Just for the record, the Moderation Police made a lot of arrests today, not a single one of them valid.
All have been released.

“Moderation in everything, except in moderation” ???
I wonder how often “valid” moderatorial arrests ever occur?
Two or three times a week, Kilby. Less often than false positives. But it’s infinitely easier to pull comments out of limbo than it is to seek and destroy bad posts that have gotten through.
Just curious — are the legitimate kills usually inappropriate/offensive posts, or just spam?
CaroZ, off the top of my head, I’d say 3 inappropriates for every 1 spam.
That’s for the Moderation folder, though: almost all the spam, which can be dozens every day, goes DIRECTLY to the Spam folder.
Checking the dashboard just now to see how many comments were in moderation, and saw the number -1.
Maybe that means not only are there no comments on hold, but the next person who writes “suck” gets a free pass.
Are the “inappropriates” mainly drive-by posts from strangers, or the regulars exceeding the limits? I would guess the former.
Brian, at this point we’re taking about such small numbers, any answer would be statistically insignificant.
