To further clarify: you squeeze Panic Pete to pop out his eyes/ears/etc to supposedly relieve your stress.

I recognized the toy, though I didn’t know its name. But that doesn’t help me find the joke.

If it had been a person with their eyes and ears extruded, I’d have seen the doctor’s question as extreme understatement. But Pete is designed to look like this with mild pressure.

Since I didn’t find a joke, I started thinking deeper about things I was probably not meant to think about, such as what kind of procedure is being performed?

And, despite Bill’s retreat to a backup CIDU, I’d appreciate an explanation of this one.

I’d never heard of Panic Pete either but apparently it is a classic and vintage going back to the 1950s: http://jurassic-pedia.com/panic-pete/ It appears on that Jurassic site because “Dennis Nedry was using a Panic Pete in the Jurassic Park Control Room”.

The Urban Dictionary definition, however, is NSFW.

Even with knowledge of the toy, this panel isn’t funny, but that may be because I think those toys are closer to “revolting” than “relaxing”.
P.S. @ narmitaj – Most of the Urban Dictionary is NSFW; I think Bill added the URL to the moderation trigger list.

I’m with Arthur here. Recognize toy, have no idea how it relates to what is being said or what is supposed to be going on in the operation room.

No pressure, but I would like some enlightenment on this as well.

To explain the humor: the massage therapist needs to be sensitive to the client, especially looking for signs of stress, since some people will not complain even if it is uncomfortable. With Panic Pete the signs are very obvious, but the therapist is asking anyways.
