The comments on the comic explain the ducklips: Eric the Red is taking a selfie. That path on the left is actually his right arm in bad perspective.
Ah, I see. Well, it could have been drawn better, with the peeps closer (both to each other and tp the camera) and leaning in, and the arm bigger.
I thought it was a “Bridge Over the River Kwai” whistle bit, but duckface works for me (in as much as it still doesn’t “work”.
If Eric’s shirt had a sleeve that was the same color as the shirt, this would have been a lot easier to understand. Sometimes I think cartoonists WANT to have their comics show up here.

Notice that even the dragon head on the ship is doing ducklips.
