The question is, is Wayno making a reference to Thomas Mann’s “Death in Venice”? The gag works well enough without it.

I thought the idea is that they died on their trip to Venice, but it’s okay with her as they are having a more elegant death – they were given wine and are traveling by gondola to the hereafter – much better than dying at home, where it would probably be an American quick, cut rate death.
WAYNO SEZ: If you gotta go, at least go in style.
My comical colleagues Rina Piccolo and Hilary Price ran a different gag involving the Reaper and a Venetian vessel back in November, on the very day I uploaded today’s Bizarro. However, we all maintain there was NO COLLUSION.
