I wrote a chorale prelude on Alice’s Restaurant, titled “Prelude on a Thanksgiving Song”, and played it on the organ last Sunday at church. Only 2 or 3 people recognized the tune.
. . . have you recorded it anywhere??? I’d LOVE to hear it!
The orthography on those YouTube captions is horrible. If you can’t do it right, there’s no reason to turn an excellent MP3 into an annoying MP4.

We watched the movie (Alice’s Restaurant) today and also saw Arlo in concert on PBS (rerun – we have seen this before also.) Robert has decided that the next time it is not going to be freezing on Thanksgiving we are going up for Thanksgiving at the Church. Arlo apparently has a dinner there every year which is open. Robert even told me that he would tell them that we would help.
Then again, we haven’t been able to make it to Colonial Williamsburg for about 4 or 5 years and this past year we barely made it Lancaster, PA – and then it was for 1 night trips.
In my family we would sing the words as “Uncle Allen’ restaurant” . My Uncle Allen had a lunch counter on a loading dock in the NYC garment district, hence the changed words – and it was far from a restaurant.
I am happy to say that this year the entire turkey was cooked! (Last year the bottom was blood rare.)
