I came across this while searching for something else. There are, of course, shards of CIDU scattered throughout the Internet.
I still don’t get it, but I suppose I’ll just have to settle for “women in comic strips are really nutty, am I right?”

Comics I Don't Understand 
The comic is worth re-reading, but the second comment on that page reminded me that Elyrest is still absent (unless she has taken a new ID, which I sort of doubt). I know that I am not the only one who still misses her insights here.
Where’s Nicole? Or paperboy? I assume they’re not here under new names either. . .
Holy F. When I went to that page there was an ad with super loud video. Bleah.
I don’t remember this one, but I might not have been a regular visitor to the site back then.
That said….Wow. There have been a number of “unwarranted anger” strips here but this one takes the cake.
Brian, a super loud video on the old CIDU page? I don’t know how that’s possible, because there’s zero advertising on the page: nothing to create ANY sound.
Am I the only one that sees several ads on that page? If so, I need to look into that.
Brian: I disabled adblocking, and indeed, there were at least three ads on that page.
There’s a comment far down the list on that comic that says there’s a missing panel where Janis checks her lipstick and it is, indeed, straight. If that were there, I’d think her reaction was reasonable (more or less). If Arlo is fishing for a rise, he got one…

I’d think with them it’s a playful two-way street.
The ad thing is so weird: could WordPress have added them because this particular page was a free page?

Well… as long as it doesn’t start happening on the “real” CIDU Page…
