hitmen reminiscing at an old, poorly tended grave.
Can anyone decipher the signature? I’d like to know who the artist was.
@Kilby: Google image search reveals the artist to be Frank Cotham.
I was binge-watching ‘Carnivale’ when this appeared last night . . . talk about setting the mood to read it. Ben Hawkins WAS in a cemetery whilst I was reading this; synchronicity at its best.
But in what way is he trying to take credit? And how does the other one know? Is it just by visiting the grave? Surely the headstone does not say “Killed by Murderer #1”.
…and hitmen (or made men) visiting a grave isn’t really a trope is it? Returning to the scene of the crime…maybe. Or something like the Poe visitor. But hitmen?
Thanks, DemetriosX, I didn’t even think of searching for the caption, but doing that produced not just the original image, but also the date (29-Oct-2015), which is too recent for my copy of the compkete collection of New Yorker cartoons.
P.S. I really have to stop tapping in comments on a tiny phone screen.
Apparently, hitmen try to take credit for a murder by visiting the grave. I didn’t know that, but live and learn.
