Golf fans are expected to be quiet. (Except Happy Gilmore’s fans.) He’s not saying anything, yet he’s being disruptive with his “noisy” sign.

Comic strips are a visual medium, and have no mechanism for sound. So several visual metaphors for sounds have evolved over the years. (The 1966 Batman show notoriously included them.)

So this golf fan has shown up to a golf event, which is supposed to be quiet when players are taking their shots, and he’s “loud”. That’s poor decorum.

I thought this was one of the funnier “In the Bleachers” that I have seen. The art work is still odd but I can live with that.

Those ‘Quiet’ signs actually exist and in that shape too (thanks internet). So red shirt is being rude, yet considerate at the same time. My guess is that any golf fan would find this funny.
