So… bears go in the woods and therefore bulls go in the front yard? And somehow methane plays a role here?
No clue.

It’s simply a question of dimensions. This overly domesticated creature is about to do his business in the great suburban outdoors, but apparently that’s not enough to dilute the stench, so he’s been instructed to use combustive counter measures.
I call BS.
This does not have anything to do with the well-known bovine production of methane. Lighting a match after using the bathroom is a common method of disguising the odor. It’s because the sulfur dioxide from the match interferes with the perception of bad-smelling volatile sulfur compounds, see https://www.quora.com/Is-it-true-that-lighting-a-match-eliminates-the-smell-of-poop-or-farts.
I think it is both methane and the light a match thing. One would think that going #2 outside wouldn’t require having the clear the air. But given bovine methane production it just might.
Methane is odorless. The gas company, which sells you methane as the majority of the gas they provide, has to put in an odorant so you’ll notice gas leaks.
He’s a suburban bull so he does his business outside to fertilize the lawn. Strikes a match when he’s done, because he’s just like people.
“Well, so does CGI.”
But there’s no need to use CGI when using a thermal camera is so easy. They are inexpensive now and plug into your phone, using the phone for image processing and data storage.

Are you familiar with the film “Predator”?
“Are you familiar with the film ‘Predator’?”
What about it?
If you were familiar with the film, you’d know what I’m referring to.
I’ve heard “Light a match” used as a request for the smell of burnt sulpher compounds to cover the smell of number 2 before. Old school tomfoolery.
Oops. Posted before reading t he whole thread. I hate it when I do that.
If “Predator” is the movie where Arnold fires automatic weapons as fast as he can for 60 seconds, I did see it, a long long time ago. Was that before or after computer graphics were invented? It’s been so long that I probably can’t say I’m familiar with it. Is it worth watching again?
A major plot point of Predator is (spoiler) that the alien hunter’s visual range includes the infrared. This is illustrated by special effects that are meant to look like infrared imaging.
